Despite the narrow loss to Cal on Saturday evening, Texas redshirt freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard played his way into the Texas football record books. Heard broke the single game record for offense, held by Vince Young, with his 527 yards of total offense. Young's 506 yards, which previously held the record, came against Oklahoma State in 2005.
Jerrod Heard started only his second game as quarterback for the Longhorns against Cal. He rushed for 163 yards and threw for 364 yards.
