AUSTIN —  Eric Weiss is a boss.

The junior third-baseman delivered a two-run, bases loaded double in the third, which gave the Texas pitching staff all the support they would need, as the Horns beat UT-Arlington, 2-1, at UFCU Disch-Falk field on Tuesday.

Freshman hurler Chad Hollingsworth, making his first collegiate start, went five strong innings, surrendering two runs, on four hits, while notching three strikeouts for the win.

Corey Knebel nailed down the final two frames, and got back-to-back strikeouts with the Mavericks’ tying run at second base for the save.

Texas hosts former Big-12 and now Big Ten foe, Nebraska, this weekend starting Friday.
