Bilas Index, Volume 1

Recommended Posts

Jay Bilas released his first Bilas Index of the season that allegedly looks at the best 68 teams in college basketball. Guess who he left out? That's right...the Horns. Just wanted to point out a couple issues with this moronic endeavor:

(1) We took Bilas' No. 1 and 9 teams to OT;

(2) Butler, a team we beat, is No. 59;

(3) We're No. 25 on kenpom.com and the first team in kenpom's ranking not to make Bilas' index. The next team not to make Bilas' index is Ole Miss, which No. 65 on kenpom. So, Nos. 1-24 and 26-64 on kenpom.com made the Bilas Index, with Texas being the lone team left out.

Previously, I never thought too much of Bilas. This just reinforces it.

Bilas is a blowhard.  He is a lawyer I believe and thinks very highly of himself.  I get tired of his repeated tweets about paying athletes.  He seems to have turned out ok with his academic scholarship to Duke.  However he actually planned on getting a degree vs thinking he was an NBA superstar like every high school senior getting a basketball scholarship.

Jay Bilas calling a Duke game is worse than listening to the lunatic Bill Walton call a game. Bilas made it seem like Texas was the worst bunch of degenerates he had ever seen and gave Duke a pass every chance he got. That occurred while Texas was up 10+ points until late in the 2nd half. What a blowhard.

Bill is certainly enjoying his retirement, isn't he? lol. I think he lights up before every game he calls. No other reason explains how strange it gets. lol

Did you hear the numerous disclaimers the play-by-play guy threw down while he and Walton were calling our last game? lol

    • the date has been set for some time, lol.  LSU is offering backup options.
    • I thought he has signing ceremony set for 20 December?  Since he set the date, I don't think we would hear anything until then.  Not much to be concerned with as far as dragging out.  It sounds like his mind is set and I also thought I read somewhere has was making a video.
    • PG just was too big strong for Graham. They also had more speed. Both teams ran the slot T offense but when Graham went down big early it forced them into some spread 5 wide stuff. PG had some dudes in the back field, #15 their FB/RB was hard to bring down. #2 SB/WB was fast. Graham had no answer all night. I spoke with some old college buddies in the stands (who grew up in Graham) and they said the didn't think they had a chance against PG, said their team hadn't really played anybody all year and this was their first test by playing somebody who was bigger, faster, and stronger than they were. The score sure showed that way at the end of the game. The Star was a neat place, I'd recommend y'all going to try and catch a game there next year. Lots of restaurants/bars in the area are walk-able.
    • I don't think Texas (historically) uses JUCOs quite enough.  While I agree that the lifeblood of healthy programs is high school recruiting.... I believe JUCOs can serve a significant role filling immediate needs for early NFL entries, unexpected busts, etc.... maybe three to five per signing class.  This could serve to keep the program competitive every year.  OL is a prime example right now.
    • EJ and Roach bot still have him leaning towards UT. I hope they are right. It has also been said that LSU has started offering other CBs. Seems like they think Cook is a UT lean as well.
