  3. And then there was one . . . And then there was one. One Texas commit remains in the hunt for a state championship crown – Cuero’s Jordan Whittington. QB commit for 2020 Hudson Card and his Lake Travis team were eliminated by Galena Park North Shore. In other state final games of interest . . . . Texas 2020 prospect Landon Jackson (DE, Pleasant Grove) will be in action when the defending state champs take on #5 Cuero and Jordan Whittington. Game time Friday is 11 am. Class 3A Div 2 #1 Newton had a mild scare last week with East Bernard coming within 7 points of Newton. This week, the pride of the Panhandle, #4 Canadian is the only thing left standing between the Eagles and a state title. Expect Canadian to give Newton a good game. Grandview vs Malakoff may be the most underrated state final this week. They face off Thursday night at 7 p.m. #3 Liberty Hill takes on #4 La Vega, a match up that has been anticipated for weeks. Could be one of the most exciting class 4A finals ever. Class 5A #1 Aledo has mowed down competition all season. This week, however, Fort Bend Marshall might present a more evenly matched game. History and tradition meet up against the modern and new when Highland Park takes on #6 Shadow Creek, a school that only recently began varsity football. CAN #4 Longview break the curse? No state title in Longview since 1937. They’ll have to make it through an upstart West Brook squad to get it done. Next to Lufkin and Rockwall, this will be Longview’s toughest test to date. In what may be a game for the ages, #5 Duncanville will take on #2 Galena Park North Shore in the Saturday night cap at AT&T. There will be so much D1 talent on the field at the same time, it will be a better game than many of the bowl games set to be played. SHA’s PICKS GP North Shore over Duncanville Longview over West Brook Highland Park over Shadow Creek FB Marshall over Aledo La Vega over Liberty Hill Cuero over Pleasant Grove Malakoff over Grandview Newton over Canadian New Deal over Mason Mart over Gruver STATE CHAMPIONSHIP Class 4A, Div 2 JORDAN WHITTINGTON, WR, CUERO – Cuero defeated Silsbee 29-24. Whittington caught five passes for 60 yards. He was also 2 out of 2 passing for 90 yards and had 34 yards rushing. On defense, Whittington had an INT, then had an INT on a 2-pt conversion that he returned for a score. #5 Cuero vs #8 Pleasant Grove, Friday, 11 am, AT&T Stadium, Arlington 2019 TEXAS COMMITS

Typically, this is the time when they'd get some meaningful playing time (in the bowl game). So I hope they can recover fast enough to play in the Sugar. That said, even if they do, they will not have practiced through the whole period so there would be some rust to kick off.

Even if we miss out on bru/Sanders this is still a damn good class to compliment the amazing class we had last year.

Yeah, I figured Higgins would go to Stanford. Can't blame the kid at all. I think it's very possible that Texas whiffs on all its targets tomorrow. Seems like Texas's best shot is with Cain, and even that seems like a coin flip at best.

  11. No doubt. They're so busy putting down Texas they can't be objective. F aggy.

Technically yes, but in reading their writeup, it sounds like they're thinking it's a coin flip.

On Brown . . . He's an upper tier back. His 17th rating is a reflection on the amount of RB talent in the country. He's not a back who can shoulder the whole load, IMO. However, he is very efficient with the carries that he gets. He would typically get 140 yards on 12 carries, which is a winner any time you can get that kind of production. I think he'll pair well with Ingram. Brown is every bit the home run threat Ingram is, just a tad smaller.

Well there you go then that means Brown will be a stud.
