Turner is Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week

From the Big 12 offices:     IRVING, Texas — Freshman forward Myles Turner has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week, the league office announced Monday. The voting was conducted by a panel of media covering Big 12 men’s basketball. Former Horn to be inducted in SWC Hall of Fame

5 Horns headed to NFL Combine

Texas ranked 2nd in preseason Big 12 poll

Courtesy of UT athletics:     IRVING, Texas – The Texas baseball team has been picked to finish second in the Big 12 in a vote by the conference’s head coaches.   Coming off a third-place national finish last season, the Longhorns received one first-place vote, behind TCU which had eight first-place votes. In the on-again, off-again world of recruiting 18-year old high school football players, Charlie Strong and his offensive coaches are being rewarded for persistence. Texas hires Jay Norvell

Texas officials confirmed reports of Jay Norvell's hire as a Longhorns assistant coach. Spring Game set for April 18, 2015

Photo: Texas Sports The 2015 Orange-White Football Scrimmage will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised live on Longhorn Network. The spring practice schedule for football has not been released yet but will begin sometime in late March. Non-conference opponents for the Longhorns in 2015 include @ Notre Dame (September 5), Rice(September 12) and Cal (September 19).

Power 5 conferences begin "era of autonomy"

From the Big 12 office:     A group of 80 voting members from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and SEC will meet formally in two meetings on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the NCAA Convention to begin a new era of autonomy aimed at protecting and improving the college experience for student athletes.   This is the first autonomy meeting and it follows a decision by the NCAA Division I Board of Directors to grant self-governing prerogatives to the member institutions of these five conferences.   T

Curtis Riser to transfer to Sam Houston State

Hoops: 'Horns fall to #20 in AP Poll
